The original Cobra marked the beginning of the muscle car era, as well as the birth of Shelby American. Today’s CSX 8000 series Cobra shares the same timeless design as the original car but features some modern upgrades. Changes were made in materials and design to increase safety and performance, without sacrificing the driving excitement that made it so famous. Many of the CSX 8000 series Cobras are being built with the all-aluminum 289 from Carroll Shelby Engine Company. Using the CSX 8000 serial numbers, the rolling chassis are available with either an aluminum or fiberglass body.
